Downloading the Free Files: A quick tutorial on how to use the free files folder and password tips
Here’s a quick tutorial on how to get the free files as promised in lots of my posts.
In each of my posts, if there’s a free file, it will be listed in the materials/supplies section.
Let’s look at the tutorial for the Magical Pop-Up Unicorn Card. In the tutorial, it tells me that the free SVG file is design #40.
Now, click on the link in the top menu (the header on each web page) where it says “Free Files Folder.”
You’ll see this page.
Do you have the password? It’s in the footer of every single email I send to my community members.
Click on the big red button.
You’ll see this box on the next page. Type the password in and press the Enter button.
You’ll see a message that you’re in and a list of FAQs.
Now, scroll down until you see the file number that you’re looking for. There are over 100 files, so you may have to scroll down quite a bit.
Click on the link of the design # and name of the file that you want.
The file will automatically download to your default folder.
If it’s an SVG file, it will be contained in a ZIP file.
Double-click the ZIP file to open it, and remove the SVG. Now, the file is ready to be uploaded to Circut Design Space or any other cutting machine software that uses SVGs.
Here’s a tutorial on uploading SVGs to Design Space if you need a refresher.
Where do I find the password?
The password (AKA ✨ magic word✨) is located at the very bottom of each email I send to my digital community.
Why do I have to enter a password if the file is free?
Having a password helps keep my designs safer. It adds an extra layer of security against hackers for my website, and adds one more step for anyone who might be trying to copy my files.
How do I sign up for the password?
At the bottom of most pages, there will be a form to fill it. Often, it looks like this.
Fill in your name and email, then check your email. Don’t see it after a few minutes? Check your spam filter.
Still can’t find it? Enter your email address again in the form very carefully. Often, people hit one key wrong so the address reads .con instead of .com or something.
It’s still not coming? Email me at emily@minordiy.com.
I have the password, but it’s not working!
Double-check that it’s correct; the best way is to copy/paste it from the email.
It’s rare, but sometimes the password doesn’t work even though you’re entering it correctly. It has something to do with the cookies on your computer. After some time passes, the cookies reset, but I know you don’t want to wait!
If it happens to you, do this: 👇
Open a new internet browser window in “Incognito” mode if you are using Chrome, or “InPrivate” mode if you are using Internet Explorer. Type in the password (or copy and paste it in) and it will work.

Your directions are super clear for SVG files but I need the PDF’s. Having trouble finding those.

Hi Judy! There are only a few projects with PDFs, such as the pop-up unicorn card and the pop-up cubes. What project are you looking for specifically?
