Kids love it when their Elf on the Shelf has a challenge for them! They need to decode the free printable secret message PDF to learn that their Elf has hidden candy canes for them to find.

The fun little Elf on the Shelf has struck again!

This time, they’ve left a letter written in code.

Luckily, the Secret Elf Code is on another sheet.

All you need for this Elf on the Shelf activity are candy canes and the free printable PDF. It’s design #93 – Elf on the Shelf Notes to Decode – Candy Canes.

Kids have to decode the letter to find out what their Elf has left them. Each icon represents a letter of the alphabet.

There’s three different letters in the free printable Elf on the Shelf secret message PDF, so you can choose which one you want to use.

The Elf has hidden either 12 or 24 candy canes around the room or throughout the house.

The sentences are phrased differently, so you can use this activity twice during December if the kids really like it.

Each letter has the solution on an answer key sheet – don’t print that one out.

A blank sheet of North Pole stationary is included so your elf can write a personal message if they want.
