Learn How to Easily Crop Photos in Cricut Design Space for Print Then Cut with This Super-Helpful Tutorial

Want to make working with your photos even easier?

Use Guides (in the Operation menu) for cropping!

Guides are about to revolutionize the way you crop your pics in Cricut Design Space. Seriously, it’s a game-changer!

With Guides, you say goodbye to the guesswork. They show you exactly where your photo will be cropped, so you can get that perfect heart-shaped crop (or any other shape you fancy).

Let me show you.

I want to crop this photo into a heart shape in this example.

I’ve uploaded my photo to Design Space and added it to the canvas.

Now, add a heart shape to the canvas.

As you can see, the heart covers the cat’s face, so I can’t see exactly where it will be cropped.

Change the heart into a guide …. and the shape is now a pink outline it so you can easily adjust it precisely how you like.

Arrange and resize the guide so that it fits the photo well.

Now, select both the guide and the image. Then click Slice.

Here’s the image after I added a border using offset.

Cute, right?

One more example, from the Mantle-Worthy Photo Card.

Most of my designs have white shapes, which is where the photo will go.

Highlight the shape the photo needs to go in.

From the Operation menu, select Guide.

The shape shows up as a pink outline now. Make sure it’s on top of the photo.

Resize the photo to fit the frame and get an excellent crop.

Highlight both the guide and photo, then click on Slice.

Delete the two extra slices.

Now, you have your perfectly-cropped photo!

This looks like a fun and quick way to get the exact picture you want. Does it have to be only photos?

Nope! It can be any image file, which is usually .jpg or .png; or .heic if it’s iPhone photos. You could use the same method to crop parts of SVGs or shapes or welded text from DS too.
