The Spring 2024 Cricut Craftfest, hosted by the amazing Abbi Kirsten, will be held from February 5th to 9th, 2024.
I’m known for my heartfelt, compassionate messages on cards designed for super sucky situations. In this workshop, I’ll teach you to make a comforting card, featuring a vibrant rainbow that unfolds when the card is opened, using the Twist and Pop Mechanism.
Join this workshop to receive many supportive messages that are perfect for those times when you βjust donβt know what to say.β
Say goodbye to generic “with condolences” Hallmark cards; create a beautiful card adorned with a heartfelt message instead.

Materials/Supplies needed for the twist and pop rainbow card
Cutting machine such as:
Note: You can also cut the card on the Cricut Joy; simply use the foil tool (without any foil) to score the cardstock. For the text, use the pen tool or print it out and then cut by hand.
Scoring Tool β I always use the scoring stylus so I don’t have to switch tools, but you can easily use the scoring wheel
Beacons 3-in-1 Advanced Crafting Glue
Crafter’s Toolkit Glue and Residue Eraser (This thing is magic for getting rid of excess glue!)
Epson XP-15000 Wide Format Photo Printer
White cardstock to print the messages; I’ve been using matte photo paper so it’s bright white.
One sheet of 65-lb cardstock for the base and mechanism
Three shades of gray cardstock for the clouds. Fun sparkle/glitter/holographic cardstock to consider:
- Mirri liquid metals mercury holographic foil board
- Disco party fusion sequin glitter cardstock
- Black diamond Mirri sparkle glitter paper
- Hologram black sequin glitter cardstock
- Pearl white matte lava holographic cardstock
- Silver matte lava holographic cardstock
- Black matte lava holographic cardstock
- Rainbow holographic foil board
- Silver Mirri sparkle glitter paper
- Gallium holographic foil board
- The grays in the Astrobrights Metallic cardstock pack are also perfect!
Seven bright colors of 65 lb. cardstock for the rainbow – I used Astrobrights Colored Cardstock
Alternatively, use glitter HTV; all of the colors needed are in this bundle.

There are 48 crafters presenting workshops at the Cricut Craftfest, so there’s something for everyone – along with workshops you’ll never watch.
Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed; just watch or download the projects you’re interested in.
Even if you don’t want to make that project, the workshop may have a tip or trick that may really help you!
For example, when I was shooting my workshop, I discovered that I needed to use glitter HTV instead of glitter cardstock on my card. It looked terrible when the cardstock bent and showed the white core.
However, the opaque HTV carrier sheet made it impossible to line up the HTV; I needed to get it precisely in place.
So, I purposely cut through the carrier sheet. It worked perfectly!
