Mother’s Day can be especially hard for some people. If you know someone who is grieving on Mother’s Day, consider sending them this card. Acknowledge them and let them know you care.
This card might be appropriate for:
- someone who longed to be a mother, but it didn’t work out
- someone who was supposed to be a mother, but they have an angel baby now
- someone that lost their mother, either recently or years ago
- those who have a difficult or no-contact relationship with their mother
The flower line drawing is slightly larger on this version of the card.
For a little reminder that you are so much more than a reproductive organ.
Be sure to write a heartfelt message inside the card.
How to make this card with a Cricut using print then cut:
First, you’ll need to download two ZIP files from the Free Files folder to create this card.
- (If you don’t have the password for the free files, fill in the form at the bottom of the page and it will be emailed to you.)
Download:
# 1 – the SVG for the card base and envelope, which is design #69 – Envelope and Card Base.
# 2 – the PNG image messages for print-and-cut. These are in the ZIP file design # 76 – Emotional, Complicated, and Hard Day.
Materials needed to make the card:
- Cricut such as an Explore or Maker
- Blue LightGrip mat
- Scoring tip or stylus
- a printer (this is my printer and I love it)
- Two pieces of 8.5 x 11 inch cardstock, one for the card base and one for the messages
- one 12×12 sheet of cardstock for the envelope
- glue or tape runner

Prepare and cut the SVG and PNG files with a Cricut
1) Upload both files to Cricut Design Space. (Here’s a refresher tutorial on uploading.)
2) Resize both the PNG files so that the longest side is 6.4 inches. Be sure the lock/unlock icon is set to lock.
- Click here to see the full tutorial for this step.
3) Set and Attach the score lines to the card base and envelope.
- See the full tutorial on how to cut, score, and glue the envelope and card base here.
4) Click the green Make It button and follow the directions on the screen to do Print then Cut, and also cut and score the card base and envelope.
I’ve also created a GIF you can email or message.
On an iPhone:
- Tap and hold for a second on the image.
- Tap on Save Image from the menu that comes up.
- The GIF is added to your photos, so you can email it or send it in an iMessage, FB Messenger, or What’sApp as any photo.

I love this card and it can be used for so many things. Is it possible to line draw it instead of print and cut?
Emily says
Right now, it’s not.
However, I am going to update it so it’s an SVG. I thought it would look really nice in foil too.

I absolutely love these cards! I have a strained relationship with my Mom so I totally get it. And I would have loved the “status of your uterus” card when I was struggling with infertility years ago. Very special creations.

I love your ideas for non traditional cards!
My husband and I never had kids but we always had pets and every mothers day he would tell me the girls wanted me to get this for you and he would get me flowers. He was a wonderful man but he passed away last August. I miss him so much. I still have the girls and they help me through this. They are chihuahua’s Ladybug is 18 and Tinkerbell is 12

I think this is a wonderful Idea. I was unable to carry a baby to fill term. I have a friend who have lost contact with their children for no good reason. Many mothers or wanted to be mothers find it very hard.
