Learn how to make cute, custom nail stickers with your Cricut. Nine different (non-scary) Halloween designs are included in the free SVG.

Aren’t these fun?
My nails are matte black for Halloween… which shows off ghosts and jack-o-lanterns particularly well.
The SVG includes many different sizes of stickers. You’ll find that some stickers cut out really well and some don’t, even if they are the exact same design. (I don’t know why. My best guess is due to the size and the slight variations of vinyl.)
The files have all sizes of nail stickers – from 5mm to 10 mm.
This project tests the limits of tiny cuts on your Cricut!
How to cut out vinyl nail stickers with your Cricut
Download the free SVG file from the Free Files Folder – it’s Design # 84 – Halloween Nail Stickers.
Upload the SVG to Design Space.
Add it to the canvas, and then click the Ungroup button.
Each set of stickers is in its own group, with a weeding box, to make it easy to cut out.

This group is for doing test cuts on the material you’re going to use.

Note: When I cut my different stickers, the individual material seemed to make a big difference.
- Some of the vinyl cut well and stayed on my nails for several days.
- Some cut poorly but stayed on well.
- Some cut well but didn’t last a day on my nails.
Highlight the layer of stickers you want to cut out. Now, click the Attach button.

After cutting the sheet, weed out the eyes. Some of the eyes will have already moved all around. Try to pick these small pieces up off the sheet.
On these small stickers, I prefer to use this piercing tool to kind of stab and/or push the small pieces away.

Now, carefully start pulling the excess vinyl away. The small cut pieces (the skull and crossbones) might stick to the largest piece, so use your tool to hold them down as you gently pull the vinyl away.

See how I’ve lost heads in some places and bones in others?
That’s totally normal. The nail stickers are so small that you’ll never get a perfect set.

These skulls were cut out of purple Cricut permanent shimmer vinyl.
It’s a cute, non-creepy skull. See how the eyes are hearts?

The easiest way to apply Halloween Cricut nail stickers
I found that the very easiest way to apply them is to use Scotch tape.
Yep. There’s no need for transfer tape at all!
Cut a piece of tape, press the design into it, and then use one hand to place the sticker over your nail on the other hand.

You might not be able to pull the sticker off with just the tape. Rub the sticker really well again, and then flip over the design sheet, hold the tape flat on the table, and peel away the backing sheet at a sharp angle.

Position the sticker on the nail, and then rub the sticker hard with another nail.

Peel the tape off and it’s good to go.

Seriously, the tape is so easy! No trimming is needed – it’s already the correct width.
It works with glitter vinyl too. I tried the StrongGrip transfer tape with the purple glitter vinyl, but I couldn’t get the vinyl off of the transfer tape.

How to prepare your nails for DIY vinyl nail stickers
I have acrylic nails, so I just washed my hands well to make sure there was no oil or lotion on them.
If you have natural nails:
- Paint your nails.
- Let them dry very well.
- Apply the stickers. Be sure to stick down all of the corners of the designs very well. (Like the tip of the ghost; that will be the first part of the design to start coming up.)
- Seal them with two layers of clear polish.
Or, you could also just choose to put another sticker on later and not worry about the length of time the nail stickers stay on.
My 4-year-old daughter put her own skull stickers on her nails after I painted them, and those stayed on for a week until we scraped them off!
I hope you have a lot of fun customizing your nails with these Halloween nail stickers!
